PCOS and IIH
Does Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome and IIH go hand in hand?
If I have IIH, will I definitely get/acquire PCOS?

I was told I had pcos when I was 21 and I know it started in my teens

At age 28 I was diagnosed with IIH yet I think I've had it for longer

They say 1 in ever 10 women have pcos and 1 in ever 100,000 women have IIH

So not everyone with pcos have IIH but if you have IIH you are more likely to have pcos

Good news is pcos is very easier to live with than IIH.
To find out if you have pcos you need a blood test for hormone levels and an ultra sound

I know a few women with both pcos and IIH that have had babies naturally

Hope I've helped xx

I too have PCO's and was diagnosed with them in 1998 although my IIH started in 1988. My trigger has definitely been linked to my IIH by both Gynaecology, Neurology, Endocrinology and my Neurosurgeon.

I also know of women who have PCO's and have multiple children and a couple of them have IIH too.

I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed when I was 16 and put on the pill and Metformin almost immediately when they found my blood insulin levels were high and that I had big cysts on my ovaries.

Now, with my recent IIH diagnosis, I have been taken off the pill 11 years after starting it. I'm kinda worried about what is going to happen, because I only ever had a couple of periods naturally off the pill (I was a late starter) before I was diagnosed with the PCOS, and now that I'm completely off the pill I'm not sure what my body is going to do. I am having a lot of pelvic pain at the moment, and I am overdue for a period but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm really hoping body hair and acne doesn't flare up, though I have had some killer zits over the last couple of weeks so it's not looking good.

I am trying to remain positive, but it has me concerned. Hopefully my ongoing weight loss for IIH will assist with the PCOS too.
