Hi! I'm Victoria Taylor.
Some of you may already know me from the IH brain pain team on facebook.
For those of you who don't know me....
I'm married with 2 children.
I live in Wales, UK.
My husband was diagnosed with IIH in 2003 and had to retire from his teaching career in 2004.
I'm his carer.
I recently became a published author.....my first book being 'Caitlin's Wish'. (25% of the royalties go to IHRF and crossroads care charities)
The book is written for young carers to help them focus on the positive aspects of living with a parent or sibling who is sick or disabled.
Written for my daughter originally when she found it difficult to come to terms with her Dad's IH...now published in the hope that it'll help others.

Together with Karla I run the IH Brain pain team page on facebook, and do as much as I can to raise awareness of IH and support the IHRF.

Thank you for this amazing forum Heidi!!! xxx

A very big and warm welcome to the group. I have been recommending your book for quite a while and think it is absolutely fabulous especially for children, I think it is important that the positive aspects are an important part of having a disability, chronic illness and ailment. I was diagnosed when my daughter was only 8 months old, and so I made sure that my IIH became a small part of our lives, rather than dominate it.

My daughter had a nurses outfit and doctors kit, and on my bad days, especially after lumbar punctures, my daughter played nurse or doctor, and never knew until she was much older that during the times, she would play these roles I was actually ill. She is now 22 and tells me that she only remembers the fun times, so I guess I did a good job.

I am so glad you are with us, and hopefully we can encourage other parents with children to buy your book for their children and find comfort from it. I wish I had had the opportunity to buy such a book for my daughter all those years ago.

Aww Thanks so much Heidi.
You are doing a fabulous job!!! Thank you!!!
You have definetly done a brilliant job of raising your daughter if she only remembers the fun times...that's fantastic!!!
I know how hard it is having small children and living with IH - not easy! My husband is very noise sensitive which makes life difficult at times.... but we try and remain positive as much as we can.
R.e. Caitlin's Wish
Thank you so much for recommending it Heidi! That's so kind of you.
We're currently in the process of creating a second edition of Caitlin's Wish which will be published over the Summer all being well. This is due to the fact that we've been having some problems with our current publisher and also the fact that we wanted to lower the price to make it more affordable.
Seeing as we have the opportunity to alter it by republishing it, we're altering some parts of it and addressing some of the criticisms we have recieved in book reviews.
We'll leep you posted on when it'll be republished and the new ISBN number etc etc.
In the meantime if anyone wants to purchase a first edition copy then they're still available through all book retailers both online and in the high st...if people just search for 'Caitlin's Wish' then they should find it.
Thanks again Heidi.
