PostSubject: In need of a tap but can't get one!   Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:01 am

Im so in need of a S.T. right now but can't get one due to being sick with a tummy bug. I think the throwing up I have been doing has caused my presure to go through the roof. my head hurts. my left hear hurts, and my eyes hurt to. IDK what to do. We are also having some rain storms, I think I saw on here that the rain can affect this illness to right? If anyone has any Suggestions that might help me get through this till I can go get a tap done I would appretiate it. Im in really bad bad, all the way through to my lower back and in my neck.
Hugs

Lacey (hug) sorry you are feeling so awfull.

Yes the weather can have an influence on your head. I dont know anything about you or your IH history but if your pressure is raised then try to rest sitting up to help the CSF drain. The main thing is to rest to allow your body to heal.

I've just thought though, about you tummy bug, are you sure you have a tummmy bug? Sometimes IH headaches can induce vomitting? I know I have had bouts of sickness in the past due to my IH. When I think back to before I was diagnosed I would often have sickness and feel so unwell.

Listen to your doctors, make sure you rest. Hope you feel better soon. (hug)

Lacy (hug) I'm so sorry you're having a rough time, and yes the weather can affect your pressure and headaches (see forum on Barometric Headaches). Personally I've found the best short term solution is to lay down with a cold cloth on my forehead, and to take pain medication as prescribed of course, and to try and rest through it. Some prefer a warm cloth so it's a case of seeing which one works for you, or you could try sitting up with them. There really isn't any sure fire method apart from trial and error as we're all different.

Have they said they will do you a S.T when your tummy bug settles? Keep a diary of your symptoms and when you notice they are worse, especially with the weather, this will be a big help to you, and your doctor. If it continues or gets worse then get back in touch with your Neuro as soon as you can.

I really hope you feel better soon and keep us uptodate on how you get on.

Smile

Nothing they are both the same thing. The procedure was originally called a spinal tap, but is now also known as a lumbar puncture. In the UK we mainly know it as a lumbar puncture, but in the USA and other parts of the world it is still known as a spinal tap.

Hope this solved your question Very Happy
