PostSubject: Feeling Lousy!   Sat Apr 24, 2010 12:53 am

We had a great weekend last weekend, took a road trip. Got wicked lost Friday and it took like 12 hours. Sunday going home was much better - it only took eight hours. It was a spiritual weekend. I had a feeling the schedule change and so on could affect the IH, but figured I could deal with it. Anyway, I had no chance to rest on Saturday. I did not want to miss anything - sounds good, right? Those of you more experienced, well, I am sure will have other suggestions! The day went from 7 a.m. until about 9:40 pm or later. I got dizzy, head pain, probably nausea too, but just hung in there and still had a good time.

Sunday, some dizzy, ears possibly sore then or Friday, but we were out by 2 pm, and got home late.

It has been murder pretty much all week. I have gotten nausea (I never throw up as I just plain get nausea), have head pain, dizzy, ears sore like today, and yah, possibly a little hearing affected. I have directions to take the Acetazolamide ER 500 mg twice a day, and then can take a third one as needed. Did the three a couple days or so, and wanted to go back to tow. Well, today has been just plain LOUSY, and am taking three today. It seemed like mid week or so, maybe it was doing better. I just AM no good when it comes to having to lay low. I HATE it and don't want to! So, am going to have a couple eggs and a corn muffin, and will go back and I want to read, as I don't want to fall asleep again, and will for sure have trouble sleeping tonight. Yea, don't want to watch any TV - yah, I know I have to lay low, and wil do it. I know it has to break, and I usually do not have such a lousy time. Amazing that I find this site from another site, and get the permission or whatever to come on and BANG the IH flares like crazy! So, I'll try to lay low. Other than that, everything is just great!

In the IH desire to have fun and want to feel normal, I said, "Yah, I would do this again" - maybe not if it is so far away. And, I will have to pace myself better. I even planned the week ahead, and made sure I was up early, and to bed at a good time, so it would not be such a bad schedule shocker and trigger the IH. One other thing that happened too, is I went from Flovent (100 - two puffs twice a day) to Advair (250/50) which is also a slight increase in the steroid inhaler, that may be reaking havoc. The commute of last weekend did have more pollution and pollen in that area, than at home. So, just a little extra of the inhaled steroid can cause problems, too. I may just plain go back to the Flovent, and tell the lung and allergy doctor that I hate Advair. I know IH makes you grouchy, but the Advair doesn't help that much, either!

So when anyone else has planned for schedule changes with travel, like how long have you tried changing the schedule before the planned trip? And, has anyone else had trouble going to Advair aggravating IH? I know it has been listed as a side effect of Advair.

I feel like a total "IH Brain" and have done a couple crazy things. Last night, since I had raw hamburger on my hands, I tried to move the pan better to the center of the burner, but DIDN'T use the handle as it would have hamburger on it, and touched the edge of the pan instead! Washed my hands, and grabbed the Aloe Vera Gel! It works well. Yah, funny stuff like that. And then I say, "WHY did I do that? Must be IH brain!" It makes me think of so many of you who have it so bad more often than I do. I have not driven for about a week now, as I don't trust myself right now - pressure is definitely UP, up, and away!!!!

I know this too will pass, and I'll be back to my pretty much better self, with better posts and fun stuff!

Doing better today - it took a full week since getting away for the weekend, before things settled down. Just tired today, and will take that over pain in the head!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] It's really good that you enjoyed your weekend. I know the after effects can sometimes overshadow it, but don't let that stop you. You are now more aware of what your body can do now with your IIH, and the fact you acknowledge you need to pace yourself more is half the battle.

It's always a case of trial and error, and as you get more used to the pace you need to take, it will make it better and before long second nature. There's been many times when I've planned a trip and had to alter plans to suit when I'm having a not so good day. As times gone on that's become fewer and far between, as I've got to know my body's limits, as you will too.

I'm so proud of you that you didn't give up on your weekend, or on having fun, and that you recognise what you need to do to keep being able to do that. Keep doing what you're doing, and you will have a really good IIH life, even to the point that you might even forget you have it at times.

I hope the other members find you as inspiring as I do [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
