PostSubject: finaly a smile    Mon Dec 17, 2012 9:37 pm

I can honestly say that I never thought I would have a success
story to tell, but here I am 10yrs into my IIH journey finally smiling with
relief. Over the last 10yrs I have tried the meds over (well over) 40 LPs. But
this December I did the bravest thing I could have done I took the plunge and
had the shunt the LP shunt.

I am only 4 days into my recovery from the op but I am
already feeling like I did before I was attacked when I was 14 (that’s what
caused my IIH , having my head jumped on by a group of 14 girls) I can see so
much more clearly. It’s like the storm has cleared from the windows and I can
actually see colors and vibrant sunshine. I don’t have my complete hearing
back but the swooshing has stopped which means I am sleeping.

I am so happy and relieved. I had my reservations about the shunt;
I was worried I would get the low pressure headaches. But I haven’t I am so
happy I know its early days but I am feeling so positive and happy I know I still
may get a blocked shunt but for now I am in a happy comftable relived place.
