IIH and MS

I was wondering if any one had heard of people having IIH and MS. reason I am asking is my doctors are looking into possible MS I have alot of the symptoms.
The thing is i dont know if i have been misdiagnoised with IIH.

So i could do with some advice.
These are my symptoms
- fatigue
- pain in arms and legs
- numbness and tingling in hands and feet (not cased caused by diamox has I had this problem before meds)
- back pain if bend forward electric shock up spine
- heat intolerance (after bath or shower hands and feet sore and red itchy)
- problems with urine and bowel movements
- problem with hearing
- problem with eye (right eye only)
- memory problems
- mood swings

The only thing that has been a symptom of IIH is the problem with my right eye and ringing in my ear. I don't get the headaches or stiff sore neck. But I do have pso, under active thyroid and mild sleep apneoa which I know can be linked to IIH. Also when I had an lp the pressure was up at 36.

Just don't know what to do feel like I am going round in circles.

Emma, an opening pressure of 36 is for sure elevated, so you do have intracranial hypertension. There is always the possibility that there is an underlaying cause (like me, I have secondary intracranial hypertension). Your docs need to determine what is causing your pressure to rise. Many of the symptoms of MS can mirror IH. I think that the results of an MRI can usually help determine whether MS may be a factor.

There is this article, which is from one of our main sources Noninvasive ICP, which I think you might find helpful. Association of multiple sclerosis and intracranial hypertension
Keep a log of all your symptoms, and you could check them against the symptoms for MS. The ones that are more likely to be IIH, you can highlight, the ones that aren't, you can then point out to your doctor and ask if they are more related to MS. If that makes sense.
Unfortunately, until all the necessary tests are done, it's going to be a waiting game I'm afraid, but once you've had them, you will finally know what's what. hug
